John Zdunkiewicz grew up playing hockey starting at the ripe age of 4. He played in the greater Philadelphia region for such teams as: Jr Flyers, Minutemen, Mercer Chiefs and as a mite for the Bristol Blazers. John has played both player and goalie since he first started. Influenced by his father and uncles' at an early age he learned to play the game at any position. John played varsity hockey for Pennsbury High School from a freshman to a senior racking up records and trophies as a goalie including Flyers Cup MVP and Bucks County Winter Sports Athlete of the Year in 2000. In 2001 he graduated high school and moved on to play on the Niagara Universtiy D1 NCAA team. The next year, John transferred to Rider University where he was a starting defenseman for the D2 club ACHA team. The team lost in the MACHA championship game. John debuted his professional career backing up for the Trenton Devils in the ECHL and then later starting for the Valley Forge Freedom of the MAHL in 2007/2008. Since then, John has concentrated on his coaching career, working with Princeton University Women's D1 NCAA and many youth organizations in the tri-state region. Now he strives on developing all levels of goalies in the PA and NJ regions. John has always been a natural coach. He started helping out as a freshman in high school and has coached ever since. His style of coaching is to give goalies the necessary tools to help their individual style in the net. John emphasizes strong skating ability as the foundation to any competitive goalie. Each goalie has their own style and unique skills. John is still a student of the game, learning from the pros by studying every goalie out there to see what they do in different situations.
